Rise of the Empire by Robert-Shane Rise of the Empire by Robert-Shane
Here's my drawing of the baddies from the prequel trilogy of the Star Wars movies.

For this picture I started off with the idea of drawing a sister piece to my 'Empire' drawing:

... but I had to be selective when choosing which characters to use as I wanted this to be representative of the Clones from both the second and third movies - but that means, I necessarily had to leave some cool characters out.

This is an entirely original picture. First drawn freehand with pencil on paper, then scanned and coloured (over many, many hours) in Photoshop using a Wacom tablet.

Hope you like!

Great to see both phases of the blue Corsuscant Senate Guards included. "The Blue Wall"!

You know, I wonder what would happen if Jango Fett end up becoming a Republic General in the Clone Wars. Would have been interesting. Anyway nice work

Yeah - I thought it was one of the better designs from the prequels. The only thing that irritates me about it is how the helmet size in the movies looks just a little too small for a 'real' person's head to fit inside. The 'original' stormtrooper designs all had to be made as physical, wearable helmets - whereas the prequel clones were all CG models - and if you ever see anyone cosplaying a clone their helmets tend to look a little larger than the versions in the movies.

No I didn't miss them - like I say above - I only wanted to include a selection of Clones seen the movies. But the Commandos were certainly epic characters - and perhaps I'll include them in a future piece.

This reminds me of when I saw an Episode II poster at a school I used to go to which had Jango Fett in the middle and flanked by clone troopers.

You know, I think specially the contrast between the red-orange background and the blue-white troppers in the front is well done. :)

You're right. I think red-orange and blue-white seems to be a very attractive colour combination. I must think of some more pictures to use them in!

In a sense, you captured it perfectly. First off, you have the 'basis' for the clones, Jango Fett. From there, you branch off to the unique classifications of clone: trooper, scout, marine, pilot. Adding the Senate Guards along the sides is a nice touch. Overshadowing it with Palpatine signifies the picture completely.

Thanks for taking the time to look at and think about this picture. You've decribed it pretty much as I intended... inasmuch as that there is a reason for who's in the picture and where they are placed. Nice to see someone 'gets it'.
