Star Wars meets Marvel - Beastbacca by Robert-Shane Star Wars meets Marvel - Beastbacca by Robert-Shane
A while ago I posted three illustrations merging Star Wars and Marvel characters. Those concepts attracted a lot of attention and seemed to get people thinking about other possible 'mash-ups'. One of the comments (I read them all) on my Darth Doom piece, from DracoDrange, suggested a mix between Marvel's Beast and Chewbacca. I liked that idea - and here's my illustration of what that character could look like. I hate the name though - but couldn't think of anything better than 'Beastbacca'!

This is a low-res version of the original which was drawn in Photoshop using a Wacom pad.

Star Wars and Chewbacca were created by George Lucas; Beast was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Star Wars and Marvel, and the respective characters are copyright of Disney. This is fan art and isn't available for sale or reproduction.

I've also added another two new character combos to create a second 'trilogy' of concepts.

This one works perfectly man.
Two characters that work so well together and I like the costume choice.

Very neat crossover idea! Dig that new harness!

I can imgine him reciting off all sorts of poetry, literature, and intelligent strategy, but all other people hear is the growl and roar!

This is... BEAUTIFUL!!! The anticipation for this piece was driving me nuts! And you executed it brilliantly! You sir, deserve to be an official Star Wars artist. Simply awesome!

A natural combination and one that you've executed extremely well!

Indeed it does seem to make a lot of sense to mix these two - perhaps in the new Star Wars we might even see multi-coloured Wookiees! (although I hope not )

Doe's not change him too much though.  Almost like Chewbacca fell into one of those toilets with the blue stuff in it.  and now he is really pissed off.  Well i would be too if that happened to me.  Time to rip peoples arms out of there sockets.

I didn't think there was much need to change his features apart from the colour of his fur - so that's why I concentrated on creating a suit that I thought mixes elements of what both characters wear - although in Chewbacca's case he doesn't wear much!

Haha, such an awesome crossover! :wow:
You did an excellent job on his expression and all the details on the fur must have taken quite some time!

Thank you very much. I actually enjoy drawing fur - although you're right it did take quite a while! It's easier to draw with a tablet - I remember once (many years ago) drawing the fur on an ewok using a mouse! ...I could hardly move my hand when I'd finished!

Oh man, that must have been pretty painful and time consuming.

haha - well it was about 15 years ago that I drew that ewok using a mouse - so it shows just how 'painful' a process it was that I still remember it so easily
